This quality thermal pot is one you’ll reach for repeatedly during those cold winter nights or hot summer afternoons. For icy cold beverages, pre-rinse with cold water, fill with your favorite beverage, and then drop in a few ice cubes. (Don’t do the ice first, as the liner can crack with sudden temperature changes.) For hot coffee or chocolate, just rinse with warm water and then fill up. …Based on other Amazon reviews I was optimistic that the, 3 liter.Zojirushi Premier Air Pot® could hold temperature for an extended period of time. To test this I prewarmed the vacuum glass with a cup of 210 F water for about 5 minutes. Then I removed the water and added about 40 ounces (12 cups by the marks on the makers pot) of freshly made, 175 degree Fahrenheit, coffee right out of the coffee maker. A second measurement 3 hours later, using a UEI PDT550 digital thermometer, showed a 146 degree F temperature. As I like my coffee hot this 10 degree per hour temperature loss was too great and I returned the Zojirushi to Amazon.
…The next morning, about 12 hours later, the temperature was an undrinkable 105 degrees F and had to be reheated. Otherwise the pump worked well.
…On a second point: Amazon continues to deliver the Zojirushi poorly packed requiring two shipments to get one pot into my home in tact. The first, as others have reported, arrived with the vacuum liner broken to shards.
…Finally, Amazon backed the transaction fully and was very quick with replacements and returns.

I know this is the fault of the postal service that carried it. It would make sense to me that if you’re shipping a carafe with glass inside, you would put something down into it (styrofoam, newspaper, packing peanuts…) to keep it a little safer. I can’t describe the frustration I feel right now, I needed that for Christmas eve and have looked at numerous stores, but haven’t found anything big enough. Such a disappointment. And now, I have to make the trip to the post office days before Christmas to send it back. Great, it’s going to be a zoo.

I have to agree with other reviewers who complained that this airpot is too fragile. My airpot worked great the first 4 times I used it. The 5th time, the glass liner failed spontaneously, leaking hot coffee all over the place. I’m sure glad no one was holding it when this happened. Don’t even think about a warranty. Zoshirushi will not guarantee these glass lined airpots against defective parts or workmanship.
